The Enlightened Rebel Roadmap

Our goal as the Enlightened Rebel Alliance is to help equip you to shift away from traditional forms of hierarchical leadership toward shared/new paradigm forms where leadership emerges as a collective capacity from everyone on your team.

This involves a mindset shift from that of being a parent to one of being a collaborative partner. From experience we know that making the shift is a lot easier said than done.

In a previous blog post we highlighted a key challenge that get's in the way of positive change: Most veterinary practices operate with a paternalistic approach to leadership that, more than any other reason, hinders them from becoming truly collaborative and effective.

Another challenge is that even when veterinary practice leaders decide to embrace this new collaborative form of leadership, they struggle with "how to" make it a reality for themselves and their practice teams. Sound familiar? We thought so.

So... here's A "Roadmap" for Enlightened Rebels to help you get started and to provide some direction for you on your journey. The roadmap offers seven guiding principles for the change process that you will want to gradually integrate into your leadership approach. The seven principles are:

  1. Practice Facilitative Leadership

  2. Establish Psychological Safety

  3. Equip Everyone with Advanced Communication Skills

  4. Be Radically Transparent with Key Information

  5. Focus on the Empowerment Triangle

  6. Explore Ways to Decentralize Decision-Making

  7. Honor Wholeness
